Element FAQ
What does each material tier mean?+
From lightest to heaviest: Flimsy (plaster — purely cosmetic), Light (wood frame — slows but won't hold), Medium (wood walls and doors — your default), Heavy (logs, metal doors), Heaviest (metal sheet, brick — top-tier raid resistance). The planner color-codes elements by tier so you can scan a layout for weak spots.
Why are some walls flagged red in the threat overlay?+
Walls that face an unobstructed path from a map-edge zombie spawn are highlighted red. Those are the walls that actually need top-tier materials. Walls behind other walls are safer and can stay at wood without much risk.
Do these crafting costs match the in-game values exactly?+
Costs are derived from Build 41 / Build 42 published recipes. Mod-loaded crafting (Eerie Country, More Build) isn't reflected. Vanilla recipes are accurate as of the latest stable patch.
How do I lay out the most defensive base?+
Read the Best Base Layout guide for the four-rule framework. In short: place in a corner of the map you can defend, double-up exterior walls on threat sides, keep generators inside but ventilated, and funnel zombies through a single chokepoint.
